Skyne creates graphic wall design for Dutch Design Center
As of today, the home of the Dutch Design Center (DDC) in d3 is transformed into a true Dutch design experience. The hallway is filled with paintings made by several renowned Dutch masters, incorporated in a graphic wall design created by Skyne. On the walls, you can now admire masterpieces by great Dutch artists like Rembrandt van Rijn, Johannes Vermeer, and Vincent van Gogh.
Our creatives Linda and Maaike are happy to see the result of their idea literally spread out over all walls of the fifth floor of building 1B in Dubai Design District (d3). “We wanted to transition the 2D artwork of the DDC logo into a 3D pattern. We used the black lines in a vivid pattern to create movement. The combination with Dutch old masters results in an interesting contrast. Together with DDC we chose for a tribute to Dutch masters because they underlie the principles of what we now call Dutch Design. In that sense, we honor the memory of our founding fathers in a modern way.”
One of the pieces to be seen in the hallway is for instance ‘The Night Watch’ by Van Rijn. This painting is Rembrandt’s largest and most famous canvas. The painting ‘The Milkmaid’ created by Vermeer also stands out, with its brilliant color scheme. A self-portrait by Vincent van Gogh, a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art, also deserved a spot in our own hallway gallery.
We at Skyne are proud to be part of DDC, and of course to have created the hallway graphics showcasing a small piece of Dutch Design history. We look forward to welcoming you for a visit. The door is always open!
